Kelis took to YouTube to set the record straight.
The Music industry has been known to sample sounds from songs of artist who have maybe, retired, or are no longer performing. Well not anymore, in recent years artist have been sampling sounds and songs from artist that are still in circulation. In most instances this is due to using the same producer, and not having the right or control over your masters. In the case of Beyonce and Kelis, this is exactly what took place.
So many discrepancies come in to play when trying to determine the creator of the sound, is it the artist or the producer.
Kelis isn’t new to these type of ordeals and to say the least wasn’t surprise. She found disappoint in one artist to another artist and felt its was disrespectful that Beyoncé didn’t reach out to mention she was using Kelis sound yet again. For some one who talks about girl empowerment this was the total opposite Kelis mention.
